Meek Mill Sentenced To Jail for Parole Violation; Rick Ross Releases Statement

Bad news for Meek Mill. The 27 year old has been sentenced to 3 to 6 months of jail for violating his parole.

Meek, real name Robert Willaims was convicted in August 2008 on multiple gun and drug charges. He served 8 months behind bars for that and was set to complete his 5-year probation in 2015 but the District Attorney raised his concern of Meek’s behavior these past few years.

“His twitter accounts being derogatroy to the probation department and this DA and others in the court system,” said Philadelphia Assistant District Attorney Noel Ann DeSantis, who said he also missed meetings with his parole officer.

According to Karen Civil, he is expected to serve only a few weeks in jail. A video report from NBC is posted below.

UPDATE: Rick Ross has released an official statement regarding his arrest to MTV.

Rick Ross: “I created MMG years ago, my desire was to create a space where the most talented artists in the world could be nurtured and supported. With that came a commitment. I vowed to support these artist, through the good and the bad. Every individual signed to MMG is not just an artist, they are my family. And with family you ride, or you die. Yesterday, my brother, Meek Mill ran into some unfortunate legal issues. It happens. However, his team, our team, will continue to execute Meek’s plan as close to schedule as possible. His album is coming. We ask that the fans and the media continue to support him and his music during this time. He’ll be home soon. ‘Dreams Are Worth More Than Money,’ and family is worth more than Everything. MMG FOR LIFE.’
