Kendrick Lamar can add another feather to his cap. On Monday, the rap star was awarded the 35th Senate District’s “Generational Icon” Award by the California State Senate during an official ceremony.

It was presented to him by State Senator and fellow Compton native Isadore Hall III who praised K.Dot for his efforts including “personally donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to support sports programs, after school programs, music programs in the Compton Unified School District to help keep Compton students off the streets and in the classroom.”

In his brief speech, Kendrick, who was accompanied by his finacee Whitney Alford spoke on importance of giving back and thanked the senate for the huge honor. Watch the video below.

Just a short while ago, the College Dropout Kanye West received his honorary doctorate degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Nope, that still wasn’t enough for him to crack a smile at the camera but he seemed pleased during his speech.

His latest stop for promoting his new Effen Vodka was Houston where he also made an appearance on the Madd Hatta morning show at 97.9 the Box radio station.
